Christmas 2009

It was definitely one of my more favorite Christmases and Christmas seasons, for that matter.
The week before Christmas we had two family parties, one for each side of my family. It was so fun to see everyone and to just celebrate being together.

Spencer and I also celebrated our 3rd anniversary on the 16th. He took the day off and we dropped Lucy off at a babysitters so we could go to lunch and then on a nice walk and shopping together. Later that night, my mom babysat and we went to dinner and then downtown to see the lights. It's become tradition to get our picture taken in front of the temple on our anniversary.
We've decided we like having our anniversary in December because there is so much fun stuff going on - concerts and lights and everything. We got to listen to a fun choir and take in the Christmas Spirit.

What a fun Christmas we had this year! We started the day off by sleeping in (til 8:30! - probably not going to happen again for a long while) and then with a yummy breakfast. Then it was off to the tree.
Lucy loves rubber duckies in her bath so there were a bunch waiting for her in her stocking. She took each one out individually and lined them all up on the coffee table. Then it was off to her other presents. She was so excited and knew just what to do with the wrapping paper.
Surprisingly, she was not more interested in the wrapping paper in boxes - she wanted the toys. We opened each one and she played with it until we could distract her enough to open another. Near the end we joked that we could just save the last few for next Christmas - she was entertained plenty already.
We took it easy for awhile and then got ready for Christmas dinner. We had most of the Van Hoose clan over as well as my mom, brother, and the missionaries - it was definitely a full house!
It was so fun to see everyone gathered around the tables, chatting and eating.
We even had a "kid's table" that Lucy and two of her cousins got to eat at - so cute!
After dinner we played games and just enjoyed each other's company.
Sorry the pics are kind of out of order - I can't seem to change the order after I download them - frustrating!
