Temple Square

Mid December we decided to take the kids downtown to see the lights.

Parking in the city is always crazy but especially on a Saturday in December so we took the "train bus" aka Trax.

The kids had a good time watching the lights out the window and we left early enough in the evening that we had quite a bit of space to ourselves.

Also, it seems as if the trains to West Valley aren't as full as the others.

We got downtown just in time for dinner and headed over to City Creek. Holy moly! We should have grabbed something first because it was crazy insane! We eventually got a yummy meal at Kneaders and then ventured out to see the lights.

On the way we took a look at the window displays.

The kids thought they were pretty cool. (I did too!)

And the temple was beautiful as usual!

This was the best one we got of all 5 of us.

The kids loved the lights and the nativity. My favorite moment of the evening was watching the nativity over by the visitor center. The narration and music just really brings the spirit. Lucy asked me while we were watching it who the woman and girl were who were heading to the stable. I had never thought about it before but got the impression that it was the midwife and her daughter who helped Mary. I don't know if that's true but it made me smile to think about. It helped me focus on the reason for the season.

The kids were wiped out by the time we headed home.

But this one was unusually alert. She loved sitting on the seat all by herself like a big girl! :)
