Our little girl had her first birthday yesterday. It's crazy to think that it's already been a year since she was born. And what an amazing year it's been! 
Spencer took the day off to spend time and get ready for the evening. We celebrated by having family and friends over for a party. We ate yummy quesadillas, opened presents, and had ice cream and cupcakes. 
We decided that Lucy gets the "cleanest baby" award for her dainty eating job. I guess we should have given her more if we wanted a really messy picture. 
Eventually we helped her get messy. (A second cupcake from Aunt Valerie helped too). We also unveiled her big present from us - a sandbox!! What a project it turned out to be! It turned out to take way longer than we thought - I mean how hard is it to create a simple box?! 
Well, when you decide to make it 6'x8', it gets hard. Then we realized how expensive sand is to buy at the store and figured she'd get the box this year and the sand next year! Eventually though we found someone online who needed to get rid of sand so we got it for free!! Talk about the price is right!! 
In the end, after lots of work (thanks Uncle Jeff, Aunt Kristen, & Aunt Tracie!), it was worth it. She absolutely loved it! The first thing she did was dig her little feet in the sand. 
We had a bunch of kids over for the party too and we were glad we made it as big as we did - it fit nine kids with room to play. 
After all the fun was over, Lucy got her first bath in the big bathtub (we've been bathing her in the sink). What a fun day we all had!!

She finally graduated to the bathtub?! Wow, that was an eventful birthday! Robbie loves the sandbox, I don't think it will be long before he asks us to give him one like Lucy's.
