The week before Spencer started back at school, he decided to take the kids on a little camp out. Eliza and I got to stay home and have a little quiet time. :)
They headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon and stayed in the Redman Campground. Lucy and Sammy brought their little hammers with them and helped set up the tent.
That night they made a fire, had tin foil dinners and s'mores and then cuddled up and read books before calling it a (very late!) night.
I love this picture! This tent was my family's growing up. Just about every summer we would pack up and spend a week in the mountains - usually in the Uintas. So this reminds me of my brother and I when we were little. :)
The next morning they took down camp. Spencer said the kids were really good - they helped out and stayed nearby like he asked them to.
They went exploring around camp - climbing on rocks and checking things out.
They even found a little birds nest, complete with tiny eggs!
Then they packed up the car and headed up the canyon a bit further to Silver Lake and took a hike around it.
The expression on Sammy's face in this one just cracks me up! :)
Spencer said they loved the ducks and hung out here for quite awhile.
Lucy wanted nothing to do with this picture. But here's proof Spencer was actually present! :)
The kids had a really great time. Spencer did too, though he said he never stopped working! I guess that's the difference between trips as a kid and trips as an adult!
