Kindergarten!

My little girl is a kindergartner!

It's hard to believe she's old enough to be in kindergarten already - seems like she was Eliza's size just yesterday. But here she is!

On the first day Sammy, Eliza, and I walked her to school where Spencer already was (because he's teaching 5th grade at her school this year!) She had a super nervous moment when all the other kids from our neighborhood tried to take a group picture. I talked to her privately for a few minutes and Spencer came over and gave her a big hug and she started to calm down.

Then it was time to go in.  Sammy and I walked her in while neighbors watched over Eliza. She hung up her new backpack, saw where her seat was and then I found her a friend to sit by on the rug.

By then she was feeling a little more confident and flashed me the "I love you" sign.

There are 7 kids in our neighborhood who started kindergarten this year and 6 of them are in her class.  I think that has helped her with her anxiety with new things.

At the end of her first day she was all smiles!  She even posed for a few photos outside the school!

Her teacher, Mrs. Ruzzi, said she's doing great!

After picking her up we went for a special lunch out. I am so proud of my big girl! And of me - look ma! No tears!

After about a week, to get her used to school, Lucy started walking with Spencer.

It's so cute to see them heading off to school together! :)
