Girls Camp

After a rough start with planning, Girls Camp ended up being awesome!! The week couldn't have gone better and I'm so glad I got to be a part of it. I didn't take a lot of pictures and I'm hoping to get some pictures from others. I'll update this when I do.

We left Monday morning and I helped bring girls up from our ward. Once there, it was a morning of meetings - hike meeting, orientation meeting, challenge course meeting. Then there was a fun activity the wards did. That night we had FHE.

I was in charge of the "activity" portion of the night. I (and by I, I mean mostly Spencer) made three sets of life-size Jenga games.

They were a hit!

We also had some cornrow games. The girls rotated between a lesson, activity, and making a treat.

The next day started with a hike.

I lead the 2nd year hike and it was long! We went at least 4.5 miles up and down and up again!

It was a lot of fun though with fun people. While we were out we saw a buck deer too.

It was especially neat to see how excited the girls were when they realized what they had accomplished. That night we had a movie night and it was nice and relaxing. I was so tired from the hike so it was nice to just sit and enjoy.

Wednesday morning was a craft and then in the afternoon we headed to the challenge course with the 1st-4th years. I got to facilitate one of the lower events - Lifeline. The girls were blindfolded and then lead to a rope they had to follow through the forest.

Later in the week a lot of them talked about that experience and how much it affected them. It was neat to be a part of it. The challenge course had 6 low events and a zipline. I got to go on the zipline too and it was a lot of fun. I thought it'd be no big deal but you get up that high and your heart starts to race!

That evening was skit night and it was hilarious! These first few pics are from our stake skit. We had the men rap to "I Like Big Boats" while we acted out a skit on standards.

Everyone else's was pretty funny too - this pic is from my ward's skit.

Thursday morning I headed back to the challenge course with the YCL's. It was a bit more relaxed because there weren't as many girls. While we were waiting for girls we saw a fox! It was beautiful!

That afternoon we got to go to the lake. In this picture I'm with Angie Rosier (the camp director) and Holly Hennessy (the 24th ward YW pres). We were in a boat together and we picked the fast canoe over the stable canoe. We stalked all the other boats and splashed them like crazy. This meant they chased us in return and we had a lot of fun - until we eventually fell in! We had fun then too but it meant we didn't get to splash anyone else!

That night we had a special speaker and a testimony meeting. It was neat to hear from all the girls. They are incredibly strong and I am so blessed to have been able to go to camp this year. The next morning we headed home.
