Yellowstone & Cody Trip, Part 3

After three nights of "sleeping" in the tent, Eliza was exhausted!

It was adorable how she slept through all of us getting up and ready.

We headed back through the Hayden Valley and saw a bunch more bison - this one was crazy close to the car.

Our first stop of the day was at the mud pots. It was really interesting! This one sounded like a dragon was hiding in the cave!

There were a few bison hanging out in the area as well - this one made me think of an old man sitting in a sauna. :)

They didn't seem to care that there were people all over.

By this point in the trip we were starting to get a bit of attitude from Lucy - notice the flip flops and inability to look at the camera? That's my reaction to the whole thing. Luckily, she chilled out.

The clouds were amazing this day! I loved the valley too - so peaceful and calm.

Lucy brought her stuffed bison with her and had it wave to some from the window. ;P

Picnic lunch along the river.

It was crazy beautiful there and the weather was absolutely perfect! The whole time we were in Yellowstone it was in the 70s and low 80s - a nice change from the 90-100 degree weather in Utah.

Sammy found a feather but we decided to take a picture, instead of it, home.

Another shot. :)

Hanging out by the river.

We headed up to a visitor's center next for the "Wildlife Olympics." They had different stations talking about the skills of different animals in the park and having you test out your skills compared to theirs.

The kids loved it - especially the running one. :)

Our last stop was Yellowstone Lake. We headed out behind the visitor center here and just played on the beach and in the water for a few hours.

We loved it! It was beautiful and warm and relaxing and fun.

We had a lot of fun with the camera watching them explore the water and sand.

Lucy loved it the most and got in quite a bit.

They searched for pretty rocks and made a pile.

Family photo on the lake. :)

Eliza was the first to lose her clothes because of all the water. She fell in completely at one point. After we were done, we changed clothes, turned on a video and headed to Cody.

One last shot of the lake.

It was amazing to see all the different landscapes in the park. There's a gigantic lake, other-worldly thermal features like the geysers and mud pots, wide valleys, deep canyons, and beautiful forests. We loved our time in Yellowstone!
