Lucy 2 3/4

It's hard to believe this little girl is almost 3 already! Well, some days it's hard to believe - other days though, it is quite obvious! Lucy definitely has a mind and personality of her own. She has been pushing and learning about her boundaries.

Some days are more challenging than others, but it's fun to watch her learn and grow from those challenges. Sometimes I will say to her "Mommy says no." She'll reply "But Lucy says yes." I always respond, "but Mommy wins." Makes me smile. Her vocabulary has grown so much it's amazing. And it's so neat to hear the more complex sentences and ideas she comes up with. She'll tell me whole stories now about how she got her owies or about a conversation she had with Daddy or about what she did at preschool. She also has little phrases she'll say all the time, some I like more than others - "What the heck?" and "Maybe so" for example.

Do you love her beautiful hair in this photo?! It's super long now and usually in her face. Gone are the days of pigtails and cute clips. The most she'll let me do with it right now is put in a headband, with the occasional bow or flower attached. Hopefully she grows out of that!

She loves to sing and has learned the words to a bunch of songs. She'll start singing to Sammy in the car when he's upset too - it's super cute. Sometimes at night I would tell her about what we had planned for the next day to help her calm down and get ready to sleep. Now she wants to hear "the plan" at least 4 or 5 times a day - makes me laugh but really shows how much kids thrive on routines.

Speaking of routines, Lucy has developed (and we've let her) the bad habit of coming into our bed during the night. So we've started working on fixing that. Each night we review her "sleep manners" and she's getting better and better. We'll work on Sammy next!

Lucy's favorites right now:
mac and cheese, corn, cereal, string cheese, Dora the Explorer, Little Einsteins, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, dress up, her bike, running, preschool, Daddy

Sammy 10 Months

How can we best describe Sammy at 10 months? Busy!

He is constantly moving, constantly finding new things to explore and examine. It's so fun to watch the little wheels inside his head spin as he figures things out.

His favorite things right now: Mommy! Yes, he loves Daddy and Lucy and everyone else, but let's be honest - his favorite? Mommy. It probably has something to do with his belly and her ability to fill it.

What else? The dishwasher and fridge. Open the dishwasher or fridge if Sammy is nearby and he will instantly be your little "helper." He has also developed a love of emptying the kitchen drawers and the recycling bin. He loves books too - turning the pages and seeing how they fall. It's fun to watch him figure that out. Oh! And the bathtub. It doesn't matter where in the house, if you turn on the bathtub water, he'll start crawling as quickly as possible to get to it.

He is starting to get to the age where he and Lucy play together more. He will chase after her as she runs through the house. They will also both sit and play with her kitchen or the ball popper or the blocks. It's fun to listen to them laugh and play with each other in the car too.

Sammy has learned to "cruise" along furniture and crawl really well. No new teeth yet but lots of slobber! :)
