The Real Thing!

Lucy learned to crawl for real last week. We were right about her only being a couple of days away from figuring it out. It's amazing how she gets so much better at it everyday. Then again, when that's all you do all day...

Bum Crawling

Lucy hasn't quite figured out how to crawl yet (we keep thinking she'll do it any day, she seems so close), but she has figured out how to get around. She rolls to her belly and then scoots backward until she's sitting. When she wants to go somewhere she just aims her booty in that direction. although she's still got to work on her aim a bit! Check it out:

All the Better to Eat you with my Dear!!

So in my last post I mentioned that Lucy sprouted her first two teeth a couple of weeks ago. She won't let you look at them yet but you can glimpse them occasionally when she's smiling or crying. However, she is quite willing to let you feel them as she stuffs your finger in her mouth and chomps down! Man, those suckers pack some punch for how little they are! Here are some pics to show them off.

Family Update

A couple of new things for us:

1. We got the internet at home. Yeah!! To help cut costs we decided not to hook up internet and cable when we moved. After 3 months we decided we could do without cable but we needed internet back. This means more posts, more often and more pics.

2. Lucy had her first 2 teeth come in last weekend! They are the two middle ones on the bottom. The first one popped up Saturday and the second on Sunday. No wonder she's been a bit fussier than usual! She's a bit shy about showing them off so I don't have a pic to display but they are definitely there.

3. I set the blog back from private. It's just easier that way!

Love you all!

Lucy loves the piano! We always get a crack out of letting her play it.

7 Months Old - Can you believe it?!

Yep, our little dinosaur is already 7 months old - it's true, they do grow too fast! She is so strong now - she can sit up on her own, can stand while holding onto something and is sooooo close to crawling. She'll get on her hands and knees and then try to move forward. Then she falls on her belly. She's managed to figure out how to move around though by scooting, army crawling, and rolling. She loves to play with toys and is developing her fine motor skills by handling different toys and passing them between her hands. She loves music and playing physically - being tickled and flipped upside down. She has also started to reach for us when she wants us to hold or pick her up. It's super cute! She has tried many vegetables and has now added fruits to her plate. She's excited about that. It's been fun to watch her develop her personality and get to know her likes and dislikes - which she has learned to express very well!

Christmas!

We had an awesome Christmas this year. Christmas Eve we spent with my dad. He had a party and announced he is getting married next July! Yea! He also moved into his new house last week and it was fun to spend time with him. Lucy got her first doll - a Cabbage Patch Doll from Grandpa Mac too. Christmas Day we spent with my mom. She stayed over and made us a yummy breakfast and then acted as Santa for Lucy. In fact when I woke up that morning there were a lot more gifts under the tree then when I went to bed. As an adult I sure didn't expect that! Lucy absolutely loved Christmas morning. She was so excited, though I'm sure she didn't really understand what was going on. She was decked out in her new Christmas pjs and robe and just looked as cute as can be (as you can see in her photos :). We got lots on video and loved helping her unwrap her gifts. She would hold onto a piece of the wrapping paper and we would turn the gift so the wrapping would tear off. She got clothes, books, and lots of toys. Being the first grandchild on my side, she sure is getting spoiled. I made my first Christmas dinner ham that night - wow, how easy is ham to make?! - and then made our way over to the in-laws where we exchanged some gifts. Then we went to a movie - Marley and Me. It was cute, not as good as the book, of course, but cute. However, it was super scary getting there and back. The storm had hit just before we left and didn't let up all night. I was really glad we made it everywhere safely. It was a great day of family, fun, and relaxation.
